Toys For Tots

2014 Toys for Tots toy Give-A-Way

The best way to express the Toys for Tots project, are in the words of Charles Dickens,” No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”

Every year since 2012, Jefferson County Community SHIPS For YOUTH, Inc. has partnered with the United States Marine Corp Reserve and local community agencies across East Central Georgia to participate in the Toys For Tots toy give-a-way.

We shouted and not only did Jefferson County hear, but they delivered. They delivered toys and food for kids ages 3 – 13 this year, ranging from bicycles, to stuffed animals, action figures, electronics, footballs and such like. In addition each Family received a Turkey or Ham with trimming for a complete Holiday dinner.

Jefferson County Community SHIPS For YOUTH, Inc. provided Toys and Food assistance to 65 Families and 143 Children in Jefferson County, who registered this year to solicit help from the toys drive, the need was the greatest it had been in years. This project was accomplished with the help of the Jefferson County Department of Families and Children Services, Jefferson County Food Pantry, Burke County Family Connection, Taylor Funeral Home, Jeff Harvey, Law Firm and many other Local Community donations.

The personal blessings that the public and those that volunteered and helped promote this great event received couldn’t possibly be expressed in words. But I can guarantee that it was expressed on parents and children’s faces all across Jefferson County on the Give-A-Way day, December 20, 2014.

Thank you, Jefferson County for helping fulfill the vision and for making great memories for the children in Jefferson County on Christmas Day.

Although this seasonal project is over, Jefferson County SHIPS For YOUTH is still soliciting donations for next year’s project, drop off can be made at 1206 Shannon BLVD., Louisville, Ga. Monday – Thursday, 9:00am – 4:00pm.  We welcome anything you can do.
