JEFFERSON COUNTY COMMUNITY SHIPS FOR YOUTH

 OFFERING ACTIVE PARENTING WORKSHOP 

LOUISVILLE, GA-SHIPS for YOUTH conducting Active Parenting of Teens workshop for students taking GED classes and participants of WIA program.  The six-session video and discussion program is held weekly at the Louisville Recreation Center, located at West 8th Street.

“We are proud to offer Active Parenting Education as part of the WIA program to such a diverse age-group of participants, ” says Chester Johnson, Executive Director of SHIPS for YOUTH. The WIA program is for youth 17-21.  The GED program age group ranges from 18-47.  All students participant in the Active Parenting of Teens workshop.  This program combines entertaining video and discussion to help parents learn how to raise children who are cooperative, responsible and able to resist peer pressure.  It also guides parents in dealing with sensitive issues such as drugs, sexuality and violence.

The program is led by a certified Active Parenting leader who is a staff member at Jefferson County Community SHIPS for YOUTH.
