Jefferson County Community SHIPS for YOUTH, Inc. is implementing a range of innovative, research-based education and mentorship programs designed to promote kids’ early engagement and academic success in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math).
The program will include: how to make home-made ice cream from scratch in a plastic bag; make homemade butter; perform chemistry experiments with hydrogen peroxide; create elephant toothpaste; and make foam from soap!
Students will receive hours of STEM training and hands on activity each day
Campers will learn how to plant and maintain a garden (raised garden beds and vertical pallet gardens)
Other fun activities: weekly water games, recreational sports, arts and crafts, and more.
